While there is only one known driving school, several non-school programs exist in the state of Colorado. Master Drive Experience sounds like a fascinating school, and I hope any of you can access their services. As always, comment below or message me if you have any resources to share. Thank you for using this resource and have a wonderful day!
Driving Schools: The MasterDrive Experience In over 20 years, MasterDrive have been training professionals on driver rehab in the United States and even Canada. When working with individuals, they first get information on the student’s disability and strengths in order to create step-by-step training for them. Once they are ready, they take them out to the road. Payment-wise, they separate the fees into each step of this plan in case a person is not ready for driving. Non-Driving Schools: Health Promotion Partners Driving Rehab program that serves drivers of all ages and conditions. Their new driver evaluation includes a medical history review and life skill assessment. Driving plans are determined by the student and their family. This organization is also a certified driver rehabilitation specialist spot. Encompass Health DriveABLE In an interesting twist, their driver evaluation is done on their computer at their office. The evaluation assesses how ready driving an individual can be and other important driving skills. Drive with Confidence They provide driving assessments and training to individuals who are interested in driving.

This is the shortest blog post I have ever done, and it is due to what I could not find in the state of Wyoming. Even the other states I covered had at least one resource, but I could not find anything at all. I hope that someone can start a program over there or some surprise school comes out. Driving Schools: N/A Non-Driving Schools: N/A Another one like North Dakota and South Dakota where only a single driving resource was found. You may have to experiment with several regular driving schools to find the right one for you. As always, comment below or message me if you have any resources to share. Thank you for using this resource and have a wonderful day!
Driving Schools: Nothing to note as of June 23rd, 2023. Non-Driving Schools: Community Medical Center: Driving Clinic This program's goal is to help people with disabilities to develop their driving skills. Evaluations help test physical function, visual performance and reaction time testing. The prices can vary depending on services and departments. Same deal with North Dakota, which is unfortunate. Driving Schools: Nothing I found as of June 23rd, 2023. Non-Driving Schools: Adaptive Experts This organization has licensed OT staff with driving instructor experience. They have experience working with most disability populations with comprehensive driver evaluation, and behind the wheel training. This school is also in North Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. Another state where you pretty much have to do your own thing to address driver training for your individual. I do hope more resources can be developed in this state. As always, comment below or message me if you have a resource to share. Thank you for using this resource and have a wonderful day!
Driving Schools: No resources I can found as of June 23rd, 2023. Non-Driving Schools: Adaptive Experts This organization has licensed OT staff with driving instructor experience. They have experience working with most disability populations with comprehensive driver evaluation, and behind the wheel training. This school is also in South Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. A state where you may have to use both a driving school and an outside program to find a plan that works for you. I cannot find a driving school for the time being, so I hope more resources will be available in the future. As always, comment below or message me if you have a resource to share. *August 17th, 2023, Update: New program added. * Driving Schools: Nothing I found as of June 23rd, 2023. Non-Driving Schools: Adaptive Experts This organization has licensed OT staff with driving instructor experience. They have experience working with most disability populations with comprehensive driver evaluation, and behind the wheel training. This school is also in North and South Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. CHI Health Immanuel Rehabilitation Institute's Driver Rehabilitation Program They provide clinical and behind the wheel assessments to individuals looking into driving. Autism and learning disabilities are mentioned on their site as populations they work with. Payment wise, outside funds like vocational rehabilitation and workers' compensation are accepted along with cash and card. Methodist Hospital’s Driver Rehabilitation Program The program not only works with autism and other populations but is certified by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. Staff is all members of The Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists or ADED. They provide clinical and behind the wheel evaluations, training, and recommendations services to new drivers. Payment wise, self-pay is an option and they do not use private healthcare, Medicare or Medicaid. The only silver lining was that this state at least has a driving school with posted involvement with this community. Other than that, I could not find other resources in the state. Driving Schools: Oklahoma Driving School One of the driving services this school offers is on special needs instruction. Their cars have adaptive controls like hand controls, leg extensions, steering knobs to help each student get used to their car. Pricing is listed on their page, and they encourage parents to call ahead as each student has different needs. Non-Driving Schools: Couldn’t find anything as of June 23rd, 2023. Pleased to find more driving schools in this state than the last few I did. As always, comment below or message me if you have a resource to share. Thank you for using this resource and have a wonderful day!
Driving Schools: First Class Driving School This driving school has an ADHD program with staff trained in working with ADHD drivers. They also have an evaluation; driver rehab adaptive training and driver improvement program. Louisiana Driving School This school is licensed by the state of Louisiana's Office of Motor Vehicles to provide driving training for the disability community. The school offers private driving rehabilitation within two-hour lessons. They will help with obtaining adaptive equipment and they will also evaluate some clients' ability to use vehicles and adaptive controls. Non-Driving Schools: Ochsner Health They have a driver evaluation service to assess driver ability in individuals. Autism or an older term is mentioned on their site. Initiatives: Autism designation in ID card *May not be implemented at this point* Used to enhance communication between the officer and the individual. One of the more unfortunate states I could research for driving resources. I only found one resource, so you are likely having to use a regular driving school for drivers’ education. I hope things change over time where states can have available resources for autistic drivers. As always, comment below or message me if you have a resource to share. Driving Schools: Nothing I can find for now as of June 23rd, 2023. Non-Driving Schools: Ability KC This organization has been going since 1978 helping adults drive behind the wheel. Their therapists are specialized in doing driving assessments and training of various disabilities like autism, ADHD, and other conditions. Evaluations include driver's safety and control, use of adaptive equipment, and clinical testing. Initiatives: Permanent Disability Indicator Displaying the individual's disabilities. Obtained by request and submission by physician's statement. Despite the new, you can request to remove it if you change your mind later on. Another state with few resources from what I could gather. I do recall using an Autism Society of Minnesota doing a presentation last year, so it is unfortunate that there is not much to get.
