Back during my driver training phase of my journey, I never found any autism specific driver schools or programs in central Connecticut. I ended up using a mix of regular driving schools and self-routines to obtain my license in October 2018. The moment my advocacy started on autism and driving started the year after, I managed to learn overtime of outside programs and the stories of families and individuals all over. I found others being in a similar situation like me and others generally didn't bother with driving due to the lack of awareness. Looking into using the resources of what I learned after collaborating with organizations and running Driving with Autism for 2022, I realized that a database of resources, which people can use can be the most meaningful and way to close my past work. I took it upon myself to create the Autism and Driving Resource Database.
The database's main mission is to show parents and autistic individuals that they are not alone and that resources does exist!
I list these following programs and schools in the database from all 50 states!
1. Adaptive driver schools
2. Driving schools with a history of working with the autism population
3. Driver Rehab programs
4. Initiatives
5. Specific laws
