Like half of the east coast states, Ohio contains quite a bit of driving schools and rehab programs. If I missed any school or other resource, comment below and/or message me. Thank you for using this resource and have a wonderful day!
Driving Schools: Heights Driving School Inc. This driving school has a page on autism and on other disabilities as well. They have a clinical evaluation that focuses on visual perception, divided attention, and reaction time. A behind the wheel evaluation is also present along with an identification program. D & D Driving School Licensed by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, this school provides driver training for individuals with disabilities. Having numerous memberships to ADED and The Driving School Association of the Americas, they have 2-hour private lessons for individuals, and they can come pick them up with an extra fee that disclosure their prices on the website. Non-Driving Schools: Driver Rehabilitation Center of Excellence They provide general driver rehab with some standout services. There is a driver evaluation which consists of a clinical exam of your abilities and behind the wheel sessions to provide recommendations. They tackle adaptive tech and other specialty vehicles services where they help you select what vehicle is best for you. Their webpage contains many resources and has individual pages on conditions like autism. MetroHealth Driver Rehab Program They have been serving people with disabilities since 1990 to help them achieve independence. Their services include evaluation, rehab driver training, and vehicle modification consultation. Payment wise, they work on you to see how insurance can pay for their program. Kettering Health NeuroRehab and Balance Center They tackle clinical assessment, road assessments, and driver training to help an individual know if it is safe to drive. Their 6-minute video mentions autism along with learning disabilities as a population they work with. Payment wise, insurance does not cover the fees of this program. University of Toledo Medical Center Their certified driver rehab specialist provides clinical evaluations and road assessments to help assess new drivers on their next steps. Autism along with ADHD and learning disabilities are mentioned on the site. No word on payment fees, so you would have to call or email them to obtain that information. If you are interested in checking out my main website, this is the link to go back to home menu. Book me for your next autism event.
