Not too much, but a couple of different programs exist. I also listed a rehab specialist here for the first time and this may occur again in the near future for other individuals in the country. Comment below and/or message me any schools I have missed. Thank you for using this resource and have a wonderful day!

8/8/2024 Update: Added a new driving school.

Driving Schools:

Maxwell Driving School
This driving school has a page on autism. Their program is designed by autistic individuals and their parents. They believe parent involvement is important for students to succeed. The pace can be flexible for each student. Classroom portion is 10 days (about 1 and a half weeks), 3.5 hours each day for the total 35-hour classroom hours.

dRiViNG AuTiSM
Located in Atoka, this school focuses on driving training for those with special needs covering both teens and adult age lessons. Lessons considers each driver's need with use of simulator to learn driving techniques. Financial assistance is accepted by the Tennessee vocational rehab services and insurance companies can deliver discounts once the driver completes a defensive driving course.

Non-Driving Schools:

Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitation Institute
This institute covers evaluations that review the potential and skillsets of individual’s driving abilities. All of their staff are certified in driver rehab and provide an individualized plan for each person.

Driving Solutions of Tennessee, LLC
They provide the following clinical and behind the wheel evaluations in order to give recommendations to you if driving is an option for you.

Specific Individuals:

Nancy Ramsey
[email protected]

Nancy is an occupational therapist and certified driver rehab specialist in Nashville. She works with a large number of students with autism. Her protocols involve anxiety and problem-solving protocol as part of her lessons.
